King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang
King Mongkut Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL) is Thailand specialist technology and engineering university, founded in 1960 in Nonthaburi with Japanese government technical support as a telecommunications training centre. Formally established in 1971 through the merger of several technical colleges and renamed in 1986, KMITL pioneered Thai doctoral education in engineering, awarding Thailand first Doctor of Engineering degree in 1982. Located in Lat Krabang District, Bangkok, KMITL operates nine faculties spanning engineering, architecture, science, information technology, agricultural technology, food industry, and medicine. The university enrolls approximately 25,000 students and employs around 1,500 academic and research personnel. KMITL research profile is strongly oriented towards applied sciences and industrial technology, with the Nanotechnology Research Center (NRC) developing advanced materials for electronics and medical applications in partnership with the National Nanotechnology Center (NANOTEC). Research areas of distinction include semiconductor engineering, embedded systems, precision agriculture, smart manufacturing, and biomedical engineering. KMITL ranks among the top 600 universities in Asia and is a key partner in Thailand Eastern Economic Corridor initiative targeting advanced industries.
