COUNTRY PROFILE
Tanzania's research base has grown significantly, led by the University of Dar es Salaam and specialized institutions focused on agriculture, health, and engineering. COSTECH coordinates national science priorities, manages competitive research grants, and facilitates international scientific cooperation. Sokoine University of Agriculture is internationally recognized for agricultural research supporting food security across East Africa. Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS) leads research in infectious disease, maternal health, and tropical medicine, supported by major partnerships with UK, US, and Scandinavian institutions.
