COUNTRY PROFILE
Cambodia's research capacity is developing from a small post-conflict base, with targeted investments in health research, agriculture, and engineering aligned with national development goals. The Institute of Technology of Cambodia (ITC) leads in STEM education and applied engineering research, while Royal University of Phnom Penh anchors social sciences and natural sciences. Public health research, particularly on infectious disease, maternal health, and nutrition, is a particular strength supported by international NGOs and global health organizations. Agricultural research addresses food security and sustainable land use. Regional partnerships with Thai, Vietnamese, Japanese, and South Korean universities accelerate knowledge transfer, and Cambodian researchers increasingly participate in ASEAN-wide science networks.
