# Nicholas Stern

> Nicholas Stern authored the landmark 2006 Stern Review on the Economics of Climate Change, the first major government analysis arguing that the benefits of early climate action vastly outweigh the costs. His work on discount rates for long-horizon risks anchors IPCC assessments. He was awarded a life peerage as Baron Stern of Brentford.
