# Nguyen Van Duc

> Nguyen Van Duc investigates the role of dimensional perovskite heterostructures — stacking 2D Ruddlesden-Popper phases atop conventional 3D MAPbI₃ — in suppressing moisture-driven degradation while simultaneously reducing lead content through bismuth and antimony partial substitutions at Hanoi University of Science and Technology's Physics Institute. Under Prof. Le Thi Lan, he has developed a sequential-deposition blade-coating protocol that controllably nucleates the 2D capping layer from dilute butylammonium iodide solutions post-crystallisation of the 3D bulk, achieving a well-defined interface confirmed by cross-sectional TEM and time-of-flight SIMS depth profiling. The 2D/3D heterostructure solar cells achieve power conversion efficiencies of 20.1% on 1 cm² area and maintain 88% initial efficiency after 1,000 hours of 85% relative humidity exposure — far exceeding the lifetime of unpassivated 3D perovskite controls. His lead-reduced Bi/Sb co-substituted variants sacrifice only 1.8% absolute efficiency while reducing lead content by 40%, meeting emerging EU REACH restrictions on lead in photovoltaics. A Vingroup Innovation Foundation grant supports the research, and collaboration with a Thai renewable energy research institute extending the work toward ASEAN climate conditions demonstrates regional technology relevance.
